ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL PLAYER DIES

A tragic event occurred in Selma, Alabama, where 16-year-old Caden Tellier, a junior quarterback at John T. Morgan Academy, passed away after suffering a severe brain injury during a high school football game on Friday, August 23, 2024. The injury happened during the third quarter of the season opener against Southern Academy. Caden was immediately airlifted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Caden was remembered by his school community and family as a kind-hearted and devout individual. His death has led to the suspension of all school activities at Morgan Academy for the week as the community mourns this significant loss. The Alabama Independent School Association has expressed its condolences and offered support to the grieving community.

Caden’s death is part of a concerning trend, as another high school football player in Alabama, Semaj Wilkins, also passed away just nine days prior due to a separate incident during practice
